Product Description
The AMSOIL Dual Remote Oil Filtration System converts an engine’s full-flow oil filter system into a full-flow/by-pass oil filtration system by attaching an AMSOIL Full-Flow Oil Filter and AMSOIL Spin-On By-Pass Oil Filter onto a remote mount. The Dual Remote System provides superior filtration efficiency, increased oil capacity and improved oil filtration accessibility. See the brochure for more info on the Dual Remote Filtration System.
The Ea By-Pass Oil Filter (EaBP) provides the best possible filtration protection against wear and oil degradation. Working in conjunction with the engine’s full-flow oil filter, the AMSOIL Ea By-Pass Filter operates by filtering oil on a “partial-flow” basis. It draws approximately 10 percent of the oil pump’s capacity at any one time and traps the extremely small, wear-causing contaminants that full-flow filters can’t remove. The AMSOIL Ea Bypass Filter typically filters all the oil in the system several times an hour, so the engine continuously receives analytically clean oil.
By-Pass Filtration Benefits:
• Dramatically Extended Drain Intervals
• Improved Oil Cooling
• Increased Filtration Capacity and Life
• Increased Fluid System Capacity
• Efficient Small Particle and Soot Removal
• Significantly Extended Engine Life
• Equipment Constantly Runs on Clean Oil
• Increased Engine Efficiency
• Remove Particles Less Than One Micro
Higher Efficiency
Oil filtration is critical to engine life. Abrasive particles in dirty oil can quickly destroy critical components and ruin precision clearances in an engine if not removed through filtration. Today’s engines, however, are designed with smaller, lower-capacity oil filters which are harder to get to for servicing. This means less efficient filtration and a reluctance to change filters at regular intervals, leading to a build-up of dirt in the oil.
The AMSOIL Dual Remote Oil Filtration System is designed to provide superior filtration efficiency, increase oil capacity and improve oil filter accessibility.
AMSOIL EaBP Filters have an efficiency of 98.7 percent at two microns. At normal operating RPMs the EaBP Filter will filter all of the oil in a typical five quart sump in less than 10 minutes.
Superior Filtration Efficiency
A vehicle’s regular oil filter is a fullflow filter. This means that all the oil pumped by the engine must pass quickly through the filter before it reaches the engine. This high flow demand limits the size of particles conventional filters can effectively remove. Particle size is measured in units called microns.
A decent full-flow filter will effectively remove particles down to about 25 microns. But studies have shown that over 60 percent of all engine wear is caused by particles in the 5 to 20 micron range. AMSOIL Ea By-Pass Oil Filters remove particles less than one micron, keeping the oil free of virtually all wear-causing particles.
The dual remote system combines both full-flow and by-pass filtration on one convenient mount. With this system, all the oil is super-filtered, and more often.
Superior Construction
The superior construction of AMSOIL EaBP Filters provides better sealing and increased longevity along with superior corrosion resistance. AMSOIL EaBP Filters have a marine powder coated exterior; and their zinc-dichromate base plates increase rust protection. EaBP Filters have a nitrile HNBR gasket and an orange silicone anti-drain valve. The two stage pleated and layered cellulose/full synthetic media has an efficiency rating of 98.7 percent at two microns.
Longer Lasting
When used in conjunction with AMSOIL motor oil and an AMSOIL EaO or Donaldson Endurance™ filter, the EaBP should be changed every other full-flow filter change up to 60,000 miles. When used with other brands of motor oil or full-flow filters, the EaBP Filter should be changed every other full-flow filter change. AMSOIL recommends using oil analysis when extending oil drain intervals.

Increased Oil Capacity
The increased fluid system capacity and filtration life provides improved oil cooling and ensures that equipment constantly runs on clean oil. Engine efficiency is increased, providing extended engine life.
Increased Filter Size
Many auto manufacturers have been using smaller full-flow filters to help squeeze their engines into tighter engine compartments. But reducing a filter’s size severely limits its service life and contaminant-holding capacity.
The dual remote mount moves the oil filter away from a tight-fitting area of the engine compartment into one
where more room is available. In many installations, it is very likely that a much larger full-flow filter can be used. A larger full-flow filter allows for better oil flow, increases dirt holding capacity and provides longer service life than a smaller filter does.
Soot Removal
AMSOIL has designed a high-efficiency by-pass filter element that is also a soot removal device. AMSOIL Ea By-Pass Filters use a synthetic/cellulose sandwiched media. The inner layer of the element is composed of a highly efficient cellulose media covered with a full synthetic media outer layer. These filters remove 39 percent of soot contaminants less than one micron. Soot removal efficiency increases approximately 10 to 14 percent when the EaBP Filter is used in conjunction with a standard full-flow filter.
Improved Accessibility
The dual remote mount is designed to make filter changes easy and convenient. It accomplishes this by using a remote filter mount that is easily installed in an accessible area of the engine compartment.
The mount is connected to the engine block by two oil lines and a special spin-on oil filter adapter. The spin-on adapter replaces the engine’s full-flow filter, using machined thread adapters that allow the dual remote system to fit about 98 percent of all car and light truck applications in the United States. Ports in the adapter provide both a source of oil and a place to return it to the engine.

Using BMK-23 on GM 3800 series engine
For those that know, the 3800 Series GM engine has a very small oil filter which provides a much smaller filtering media. Now the EAO filters that AMSOIL offers are very good and worth the cost, but I wanted a filtering system that would also trap the particles smaller than 20 microns.
I purchased the BMK-23 General Use Dual Remote Oil Bypass Unit. Along with this I needed two BK21 90 degree elbows, EABP90 By-Pass filter, EAO15 full flow filter, and BK297 Spin On adapter.
This is a well put together kit, contains easy to follow instructions, and everything needed to install. I installed this on a 2004 Buick Regal which was not designed for installing an oil bypass filter unit! The best place for the bypass unit is in the front bumper area, mounted on the steel bumper in front of the air conditioning condenser. The oil lines run along the steel rail just in front of the crank pulley through an opening just below bottom corner of the radiator and up to the bypass unit.
Now, into the second full year of using the bypass unit and fill with 5W-30 Signature Series. Installing this unit also provided more oil capacity. The fill is now 6 quarts. I can honestly say that the oil looks cleaner at the end of its 1 year service life, which means that the enhanced filtering is doing its job. Engine is nearing 300,000 km and running very well.
I would recommend these units to anyone wanting to increase the oil filtration of their engine. If you are unsure, AMSOIL tech support can answer your questions, they definitely helped me.
